Robert Downey Jr. and Ron Howard team up for a live-action Pinocchio

February 18, 2016 by Robert Kojder

Following the recent financial successes of Cinderella, Maleficent, and Alice in Wonderland, The Tracking Board are reporting that Warner Bros. is now interested in furthering development on Robert Downey Jr.’s Pinocchio, which he is producing alongside starring in as Geppetto.

Ron Howard is also now confirmed to direct the film after Ben Stiller, Tim Burton, and Paul Thomas Anderson were all once previously attached to the project.

The brief synopsis of this version simply states that Geppetto (known from the classic story as the creator of the wooden boy) will set out to find his son. What that means is that like most of these recent modern adaptations, some liberties are likely to be taken with the original source material.

This October Ron Howard will be releasing Inferno (the third entry in The Da Vinci Code franchise), while Robert Downey Jr. will be reprising his role as Iron Man for Captain America: Civil War this Summer.
