KimStim Films has released a trailer for director Wei Shujun’s mystery crime drama Only the River Flows.
Based on Yu Hua’s novel Mistakes by the River, the film follows police chief Ma Zhe (Yilong Zhu) as he delves into the hidden behaviour of the citizens of a riverside town in rural China while investigating a series of murders. Watch the trailer below…
1990s, Banpo Town, rural China. A woman’s body is found by the river. Ma Zhe, Chief of the Criminal Police, heads up the murder investigation that leads to an apparent arrest. His superiors hurry to congratulate him, but several clues push Ma Zhe to delve deeper into the hidden behavior of his fellow citizens.
Only the River Flows arrives in select US cinemas on July 26th.
