There’s Doctor Who audiobooks galore coming from Penguin Random House this summer with new adventures for fans of all ages with some for the Fifteenth Doctor, Eleventh and Fifth as well as a tale from the TARDIS’ point of view.
On 11th July Lizzie Hopley reads Doctor Who: I, TARDIS, an in-depth account of the TARDIS’s adventures with the Doctor. Each Doctor has had a unique relationship with the TARDIS and although the Doctor claims he stole her from Gallifrey, the TARDIS has a very different view of who stole WHO.
With Doctor Who: I, TARDIS, listeners can revisit the Doctor’s adventures from the viewpoint of that good old blue police box, from the time of the First Doctor to the present day. It’s an epic adventure and the TARDIS wants people to know.
Doctor Who: I, TARDIS releases digitally on the 11th July and will be available on CD on 15th August.
On 18th July, fans can listen to Doctor Who: Dark Contract, an adventure starring the Fifth Doctor. Written by Will Hadcroft and read by Matthew Waterhouse, Doctor Who: Dark Contract follows the Fifth Doctor, Adric, Tegan and Nyssa on a visit to 1830s London.
In this Dickensian London, the group are sobered by the poverty and destitution that is widespread in the greatest Empire the world has ever seen. Although the New Poor Law isn’t making things any better there is something not of this world affecting those most in need and that is not happy with the arrival of the TARDIS and its travellers.
Releasing digitally on 8th August and on CD on 22nd August are three novelisations of the adventures starring the Fifteenth Doctor. In Doctor Who: Rogue takes the Doctor and Ruby Sunday to Earth’s Regency Era, specifically to the Duchess of Pemberton’s ball. It’s up to the Doctor to stop the Chuldurs’ plot.
In Doctor Who: 73 Yards Ruby Sunday is haunted by a sinister presence as she copes with losing the Doctor and her previous life. It’s down to Ruby to stop this sinister presence before it can become even more terrifying. Doctor Who: 73 Yards is read by Susan Twist, who plays the mysterious woman in the TV episode.
The final novelisation of the TV episodes, Doctor Who: Space Babies is Ruby’s first adventure into space and she learns the universe is much bigger and crazier place than she originally thought. She also discovers that the Doctor can sometimes feel afraid as well.
Also coming on 22nd August is Doctor Who: Death in the Stars, a murder mystery novel written by Bonnie Langford who played Mel Bush. In this story, Mel’s business partner, Sabalom Glitz embarks on yet another get rich quick scheme but the discovery of a space craft with its crew in suspended animation leads to murders that appear to have been committed by Mel or Glitz.
Doctor Who: Eleventh Doctor Novels Volume 3 includes four original stories featuring the Eleventh Doctor, Amy and Rory. These stories are Touched By An Angel by Jonathan Morris, Hunter’s Moon, by Paul Finch, Paradox Lost, by George Mann, and Borrowed Time, by Naomi Alderman. Doctor Who: Eleventh Doctor Novels Volume 3 will be available on 5th September.
