August 7, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Treasure Boy and developer Kindermann Corp. have announced the release of Shikon-X, their retro inspired point and click adventure (without any actual pointing and clicking) on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Shikon-X sports 8-bit stylised graphics that harks back to the days of the NES, you can see these for yourself in the trailer below…

Shikon-X is a story-rich adventure that sends players on a quest to discover who is responsible for starting a war against humanity. Follow Major Daaia as she sets out on a mission inspired by 80s and 90s anime and visit alien planets, meet a host of weird and silly characters and uncover the truth behind the war with humanity’s mortal enemy, the Rolars.

Throughout the adventure, gamers will be able to play through a variety of arcade mini-games, such as fighting off invaders in a retro-inspired arcade shooter or show off flipper skills on a  fully-featured pinball table.  Each mini-game serves a purpose and the story develops throughout these sections.

Features:

  • Colourful, stylised graphics reminiscent of the 8-bit days.
  • A streamlined ‘point-and-click’ adventure that does without the pointing and clicking.
  • Intergalactic adventure inspired by 80’s and 90’s anime.
  • Gameplay designed with approachability in mind.
  • Arcade mini-games that help the narrative move forward.

Shikon-X is available now on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam for £10.29 / $12.99 / €10.79.
