Conan Exiles to receive fully-voiced companion characters in Age of Heroes

August 16, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Funcom’s open world survival Conan Exiles is about to enter The Age of Heroes, its third season of free major content updates and today the dev’s have revealed details of some of the changes coming to players this October in the first chapter.  A new developer stream looking at the features of the first chapter can be seen below…

The first chapter of Age of Heroes will bring two major new features that are sure to impress both new and old players alike.  The first of these is the introduction of player Companion characters that are available to recruit and adventure with.  Two named companions will be released to start with; Freya, the Aesir warrior, and Liu Fei, the Khitan sorcerer, both of which are fully voiced and have their own story that players can help them with.  As players travel with their new companion their abilities will be shaped by what happens to them and the choices made by the player.  More companions are planned to be released in later chapters.

The second major feature will be to bring a bit of life to player bases by giving thralls realistic behaviour and interactions.  The servants and fighters that were once very motionless will go about their duties in the base, emoting and manning crafting stations when needed.  They will need to eat and sleep like real people and will also defend their territory when threatened just like a real settlement. There will also be an assortment of quality of life improvements and bug fixes with each chapter.

Age of Heroes arrives on Conan Exiles this October on Xbox X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
