Chris Pratt will return as everyone’s favourite lasagna-loving and Monday-hating cat Garfield in a sequel to last year’s animated The Garfield Movie.
The first film starred Pratt as Garfield alongside a cast featuring Samuel L. Jackson, Hannah Winningham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillén and Snoop Dogg. It is unknown at the moment who else may return with Pratt, but it is worth noting Hoult played Garfield’s owner and friend Jon while Jackson was Garfield’s estranged father Vic and the pair could likely return.
Sony Pictures are in discussions with writers and directors to helm the sequel and it has been reported further casting news should be revealed soon.
Garfield 2 will be produced by Pratt, John Cohen and Steven P. Wegner with Alcon Entertainment co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. Garfield creator Jim Davis will also serve as an executive producer.
