Spider-Punk animated movie coming from Daniel Kaluuya and Sony

August 6, 2025 by EJ Moreno

Sony Pictures Animation knows the power of a good Spider-Man story, and now they look to expand their cinematic multiverse with a new one all about the beloved Spider-Punk.

Deadline reports the studio is currently developing a film following the misadventures of the character we first met in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023). Voice actor Daniel Kaluuya and screenwriter Ajon Singh are co-writing the film.

No director is currently attached, but the outlet notes Amy Pascal joins Christopher Miller and Phil Lord in producing the potential Spider-Punk project.

Spider-Punk, also known as Hobart “Hobie” Brown, is an alternate-universe version of Spider-Man, known for his rebellious punk rock aesthetic and anti-authoritarian attitude. He first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #10 (2015), created by Dan Slott and Olivier Coipel. In his world, he becomes the Spider-Man of Earth-138 and fights against the authoritarian regime of President Norman Osborn.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse took the world by storm, showcasing Miles Morales and a whole multiverse of different versions of Spider-Man. It was a hit, grossing over $394 million worldwide and winning the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. The sequel, Across the Spider-Verse, grossed over $690 million worldwide and was nominated for an Oscar.

While details are being kept under wraps at the moment, it is also expected that Kaluuya will reprise the role in 2027’s Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Stay tuned to Flickering Myth for more details on the Spider-Punk film.
