Max Minghella joins DC’s Clayface movie

August 15, 2025 by Gary Collinson

THR is reporting that Max Minghella (The Handmaid’s Tale) has become the latest addition to the cast of DC Studios’ Clayface, the upcoming horror film based upon the classic Batman villain.

Clayface is being directed by James Watkins (Speak No Evil) from a script by Mike Flanagan (The Life of Chuck), and will mark the third film in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebooted DC Universe after Gunn’s Superman and next year’s Supergirl from director Craig Gillespie (Cruella).

Minghella joins Tom Rhys Harries (The Return) and Naomi Ackie (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) in the cast of the $40 million-budgeted film, which will follow “an ascending actor (Harries) whose face is disfigured by a gangster. As a last resort, the actor turns to a fringe Elizabeth Holmes-style scientist (Ackie) for help.” Mingella is said to playing a Gotham City police detective who is dating Ackie’s character.

Clayface is slated for release on September 11th 2026, while the Milly Alcock-led Supergirl will fly into cinemas on June 26th 2026.
