John Candy is remembered in John Candy: I Like Me trailer

Iconic actor and comedian John Candy is the focus of the documentary John Candy: I Like Me, directed by Colin Hanks and produced by Ryan Reynolds and Candy’s son and daughter Chris Candy and Jennifer Candy-Sullivan. The documentary has premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and will be released on Amazon Prime October 10th. Watch the trailer below…

Candy is a beloved comedy actor who got his start on the Canadian sketch comedy series SCTV. He would later go on to star in several blockbuster comedies such as Stripes, Splash, Spaceballs, Canadian Bacon, Uncle Buck and Planes, Trains & Automobiles, the last of which the doc gets its subtitle from in a monologue delivered by one of Candy’s most memorable characters Del Griffith.

Candy tragically passed away in 1994 due to a heart attack. John Candy: I Like Me will explore his childhood and the beginnings of his acting career with interviews from his family and colleagues like Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Macauley Culkin, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and many more giving insight into Candy’s joyous personality and drive to make anyone laugh.
