First trailer for Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Frankenstein-inspired The Bride! starring Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale

September 23, 2025 by Amie Cranswick

Warner Bros. has debuted the first trailer for writer-director Maggie Gyllenhaal’s dark romantic monster horror The Bride!

Inspired by the classic 1935 sci-fi horror Bride of Frankenstein, the film sees Dr. Frankenstein seek the help of Dr. Euphronius to help revive the body of a murdered woman in order to create a companion for himself.

The cast includes Jessie Buckley, Christian Bale, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Penélope Cruz. Check out the trailer below…

A lonely Frankenstein (Christian Bale) travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (five-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening) to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman and The Bride (Jessie Buckley) is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!

The Bride! arrives in cinemas on March 6th 2026.
