Margaret Qualley, Michael Shannon and Drew Starkey to headline Jeff Nichols’ supernatural horror King Snake

November 1, 2025 by Matt Rodgers

Jeff Nichols is returning to the realm of otherworldly fables with the news that he has lined up Maragaret Qualley (The Substance), Drew Starkey (Queer), and regular collaborator Michael Shannon (Midnight Special) for his supernatural horror King Snake.

According to Deadline the Bikeriders-director has enlisted the actors for his self-penned slice of Southern Gothic horror.

King Snake will tell the story of a young couple (Qualley and Starkey) who inherit a farm in rural Arkansas and must conquer the demons, both physical and metaphysical, that haunt its legacy. Forces of good and evil collide in a terrifying film where real-world challenges crash headlong into otherworldly creatures and myths.

King Snake will be financed by Filmnation, with their CEO Glen Basner added to air of mystery surrounding the project by adding “Jeff is a singular filmmaker and King Snake will bewitch and enthral audiences around the world with a startling new vision of the supernatural forces that hover just beyond our everyday perceptions.”
