Fairy Tail: Dungeons set for free update and Nintendo Switch release

December 10, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Kodansha Game Creators’ Lab and ginolabo have announced they will be releasing Fairy Tail: Dungeons on Nintendo Switch on 7th January. On the same day, a free content update will arrive via Steam for PC players. Based on the beloved Fairy Tail manga and anime, players will build their deck of powerful attacks and navigate a maze-like dungeon filled with treasure and monsters.

Fairy Tail: Dungeons takes players into the world of the hit anime and manga, where they will create a team and build up their deck of magic cards and set out into the dungeon. These maze-like tunnels and corridors of rooms hide plenty of treasures and secrets, but they are also home to multitudes of monsters and creatures that will block the path forward and start combat. When combat starts, players will need to play their cards in a specific order to activate powerful Magic Chains that cause a massive damage boost. After each run in the dungeon, players will be able to upgrade their cards and skillsets.

The upcoming update for the PC version will invite five new heroes into the dungeon dives. These new five characters are: Gajeel, Juvia, Mirajane, Laxus, and Gildarts, and are all unlockable through playing the game. There will also be the opportunity for new battle strategies, as the update will add 200+ amulets, 170+ magic cards, and 100+ skills. There will also be the addition of 50 Labyrinth quests, 30 monsters, and 20 different items.

That’s not all, PC players can return to the dungeon with the new Special Labyrinth Exploration, test their skills with higher difficulty levels in the Labyrinth and Abyssal Conquest modes, or relax and concentrate on the story in the new Casual mode.  All this extra content is joined by quality-of-life changes, UI improvements and additional control schemes.

Nintendo Switch players can enjoy Fairy Tail: Dungeons on 7th January.
