New issues of Commando available now

January 12, 2026 by Andrew Newton

There’s more action and adventure for fans of Commando comics as D.C. Thompson has released four more excellent tales, including a brand-new Braddock story, a mystery in No Man’s Land and two tales from the series’ vast archives.

The new year kicks off with issue 5919 (Home of Heroes): Braddock: The Flying Tigers by Brent Towns, with art by Paolo Ongaro. This new tale in the classic Braddock series sees the ace pilot and his navigator, George Bourne, join up with the Flying Tigers of the American Volunteer Group in Burma in an effort to convince the Americans to use the latest British fighter-bomber aircraft, the de Havilland Mosquito, aka the Wooden Wonder. However, the Americans don’t think a wooden plane will be any good at going head-to-head with the Japanese, so it’s up to Braddock to prove them wrong.

In issue 5920 (Gold): The Pirates From Sub 13, Lieutenant Roddy MacNab is determined to make his patrol in perilous Japanese waters a success, but all he has on his side is an old beat-up submarine and a ruffian crew that is on the verge of mutiny.

Written by E. Hebden and art by Gordon C. Livingstone, this is a reprint from 1971’s issue 596.

The next new arrival is issue 5921 (For Action and Adventure): Murder in No Man’s Land by Dominic Teague. When two bodies, both with bullet holes in their backs, are discovered in No Man’s Land, Private Arthur Jones wonders what he has stumbled into, especially seeing as both men have a secret pocket with a mysterious map hidden within. Will Arthur get to the bottom of this mystery without the same fate as the two men?

Finally, issue 5922 (Silver): Delayed Action starts with a French carpenter’s plot for vengeance against a cruel and heartless nobleman. However, before the deadly booby-trap can be activated, fate steps in and both he and the noblemen die. The booby-trap remained undisturbed, with nobody aware of its existence until now.

This exciting story was written by C. G. Walker and was first published in 1984 as issue number 1854.
