Maika Monroe heads to Raccoon City in epic live-action short for Resident Evil Requiem

February 2, 2026 by Matt Rodgers

As we shuffle into the month of release Capcom has unveiled a blockbuster short film trailer for Resident Evil Requiem, which stars Longlegs and It Follows horror icon Maika Monroe as a mother attempting to navigate the chaos of the original zombie outbreak in Raccoon City.

The game is the ninth instalment in the mainline narrative of the horror series that has sold over 160 million units since it was first released back in 1996, and sees the return of franchise favourite Leon S. Kennedy, as he investigates a series of strange deaths, while unbeknownst to him our new protagonist, FBI technical analyst Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Resident Evil Outbreak‘s Alyssa Ashcroft, is doing the exact same thing.

While Monroe doesn’t feature in the game, the short film sets an epic, judgement day-style tone for the survival horror-game, and wets the live-action appetite for Resident Evil ahead of Zach Cregger’s big-screen outing, which is set to debut September 18, 2026. Check out the trailer below…

“Requiem for the dead. Nightmare for the living. Resident Evil Requiem is the highly anticipated ninth title in the mainline Resident Evil series. Prepare to escape death in a heart-stopping experience that will chill you to your core.”
