Trailer for comedy Power Ballad starring Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas

March 12, 2026 by Amie Cranswick

Following its world premiere earlier this month at the Dublin International Film Festival, Lionsgate has debuted the first trailer for the upcoming comedy Power Ballad.

Directed by John Carney (Sing Street), the film sees washed-up wedding singer Rick (Paul Rudd) and fading boyband star Danny (Nick Jonas) forming an unexpected bond during a jam session. But when Danny uses one of Rick’s songs and makes it a hit, Rick sets out to claim the recognition he feels he deserves.

Joining Rudd and Jonas in the cast are Peter McDonald, Marcella Plunkett, Havana Rose Liu, and Jack Reynor. Watch the trailer below…

When Rick (Paul Rudd), a past-his-prime wedding singer, meets fading boy-band star Danny (Nick Jonas) during a gig, the two bond over music and a late-night jam session. But when Danny turns one of Rick’s songs into the hit that reignites his career, Rick sets out to reclaim the recognition he believes he deserves – even if it means risking everything he cares about. From writer-director John Carney (Sing Street, Once), POWER BALLAD is a feel-good story about music, self-respect, friendship, and the price of ambition.

Power Ballad arrives in cinemas on June 5th.
