Marshals sees Luke Grimes return as Kayce Dutton following the conclusion of Yellowstone. The series premiered on CBS on March 1st as is a procedural drama as opposed to the mother series’ heavy drama. Kayce becomes a member of an elite squad of U.S. Marshals in Montana to deal out justice in the state.
The series had the strongest debut for CBS for an original scripted series in several years, drawing in a total of 20 million viewers through its premiere on TV and streaming. While streaming numbers for its second episode have yet to be collated, the TV broadcast brought in 8.4 million which is only a small drop from the premiere’s audience of 9.52 million.
“Marshals delivered a breakout performance, capturing a massive audience across platforms and quickly establishing itself as one of TV’s most powerful new series,” said CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach. “The overwhelming viewer response speaks to the strength of the Yellowstone world, the bold character driven storytelling from the creative team and the dynamic cast performances led by Luke Grimes.”
<>While audiences will see more of Kayce’s post-Yellowstone life, Paramount is developing another spin-off titled The Dutton Ranch which will follow Kayce’s older sister Beth and her husband Rip Wheeler with Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser reprising their roles.

“With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana. Kayce and his teammates – Pete Calvin, Belle Skinner, Andrea Cruz, and Miles Kittle – must balance the high psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence with their duty to their families, which for Kayce includes his son Tate and his confidantes Thomas Rainwater and Mo from the Broken Rock reservation.”
Marshals stars Luke Grimes, Gil Birmingham, Mo Brings Plenty, Brecken Merrill, Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, Logan Marshall-Green and Brett Cullen.
