Coming hot on the heels of the news that Marvel Studios has lined up Samara Weaving for the role of Emma Frost in its X-Men reboot, it is now being reported that Heartstopper star Kit Connor looks set to be enrolling in Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters as the mutant superhero team’s field leader Scott Summers, a.k.a. Cyclops.
Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige and director Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts*) are said to have tested a number of actors for roles in the X-Men film this past month, with Connor ultimately winning out the role of Cyclops. The casting will see him following in the footsteps of James Marsden and Tye Sheridan, both of whom portrayed the character in Fox’s X-Men movies (the former also returns this December as part of the cast of Avengers: Doomsday).
Although neither Connor or Weaving’s castings have been confirmed yet by Marvel Studios, the cast of the X-Men reboot appears to be quickly taking shape following the debut of Stranger Things star Sadie Sink as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and it is being speculated that Marvel could officially unveil the line-up for the film during this month’s Disney D23 Expo, which takes place next weekend (August 14th – 16th).
The X-Men reboot is expected to kick off the new ‘Saga’ of the MCU post-Avengers: Secret Wars and will likely join the recently announced Ghost Rider and Black Panther III as Marvel’s theatrical releases for 2028.
