Marvel Studios made a big announcement yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con regarding the future of Black Panther. With director Ryan Coogler, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and stars Letita Wright and Winston Duke on stage, they introduced David Jonsson (The Long Walk) as the new T’Challa II, T’Challa’s now grown son who will become the next Black Panther in Black Panther III.
T’Challa II was introduced in the final moments of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever under his alias Toussaint. His parents are T’Challa, who was played in the previous MCU films by Chadwick Boseman until his untimely passing from an aggressive cancer, and Lupita Nyong’o’s Nakia. Before T’Challa’s passing, they both decided to raise him away from the throne until he was old enough.
Black Panther III has been given a release date of December 15, 2028. It is the second post-Avengers: Secret Wars project to be announced after yesterday’s news of Ryan Gosling in Ghost Rider for a to-be-decided date in 2028.

The film will again be directed by Coogler, and Wright and Duke will presumably also return, though we won’t know their fates until after Avengers: Doomsday, which opens on December 18th, along with 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars.
