With filming set to begin this month, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that director Alexandre Aja has set Emily Rudd (One Piece) and Mason Gooding (Scream) to star in the follow-up to the hit 2019 survival thriller Crawl.
The original film starred Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper as a daughter and father caught in a Category 5 hurricane, leaving them trapped inside the crawl space of their Florida home and targeted by alligators. It was a surprise box office hit, grossing $91 million worldwide from a $13.5 million production budget.
Specific details on the as-yet-untitled sequel are being kept under wraps for the time being, but THR reports that it will “bring the teeth-gnashing to New York, which sees gators in the streets and sewers after a hurricane hits the city.”
