A new box set of audio adventures is heading to Doctor Who fans in January 2027 as Big Finish Productions announces Doctor Who: The Seventh Doctor Adventures -Homecoming. Starring Sylvester McCoy as the Doctor and Sophie Aldred as Ace, this upcoming box set reveals some family history for the beloved companion Ace.
Ace and the Doctor first met in the 1987 TV story Dragonfire, and since then, Who fans have been wondering more about the troubled teenager’s past and why she chose to join the Seventh Doctor on the TARDIS.
The three new adventures in this box set span various times in Ace’s life, with the first story, The Auton Invasion of Ace by Jonathan S Powell, set near the start of her journey with the Doctor. In this adventure, Ace is having the time of her life with her cans of Nitro-9 and her new mentor. Unfortunately, her visit to 21st-century Thailand is interrupted by the Nestene Consciousness and a person called Audrey Gale. This story stars Rosie Cavaliero as Audrey, Harry McShane as Ace’s father Harry, and William Ellis as Ace’s stepdad Stuart.
In the two-parter The Leviathan by Rochana Patel, the Doctor takes Ace and Hex (Philip Olivier) to the Overlook, a temporal Tortuga suspended in the time vortex. Although eager to find the Leviathan, how far will the Doctor go to seek it, and will Ace and Hex stick around to find out?

Finally, There Is No Place Like Home by Jonathan Morris is a three-part story set in the present day, with Ace being a charity director freelancing for UNIT. While investigating a time vortex without informing UNIT, she suddenly finds herself back in Perivale at her mother’s grave alongside a much older Seventh Doctor. There’s also a creature from the vortex, one that will force her to confront her greatest fear, her own past.
