Richard Donner says Goonies sequel is moving forward

April 5, 2014 by admin

If Richard Donner is to be believed, the long-rumoured sequel to the 80s classic The Goonies may finally be moving forward, with the director telling TMZ that “we’re doing a sequel” and suggesting that original stars Sean Astin (Mikey), Josh Brolin (Brand), Corey Feldman (Mouth), Ke Huy Quan (Data) and Jeff Cohen (Chunk) could all return for the follow-up.

The Goonies was released in 1985, with Donner directing from a script by Chris Columbus and a story by Steven Spielberg, who also executive produced. Talk of a sequel following a new generation of Goonies has reignited in recent years, with Sean Astin stating in 2007 that a second movie was an “absolute certainty” and Donner stating in 2010 that the follow-up is a “definite thing”. I guess Goonies really do never say die…

Do you want to see a Goonies sequel? Let us know in the comments below….
