Neil Gaiman adapting Terry Pratchett collaboration Good Omens as six-part TV series

April 17, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Neil Gaiman has revealed that he’s set to bring his Terry Pratchett collaboration Good Omens to the small screen with a six-episode miniseries based upon the 1990 fantasy novel.

Gaiman had previously resisted the idea of adapting the book following Pratchett’s passing last year of Alzheimer’s, but he revealed this week that he has changed his mind after receiving a posthumous letter from the late author urging him to do so: “At that point, I think I said, ‘You bastard, yes,’”

Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch tells of the coming of the Antichrist and the efforts of Crowley the demon and Aziraphale the angel to prevent the End Times. Terry Gilliam attempted a feature adaptation back in 2002 but failed to secure financing, while a TV adaptation was announced in 2011 but plans fizzled out. It was however brought to radio in 2014 courtesy of BBC Radio 4.
