Lionsgate finds a screenwriter for Borderlands movie

April 27, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Lionsgate is stepping up development on its Borderlands movie, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that Aaron Berg (Section 6, G.I. Joe 3) has signed on to pen the video game adaptation.

Borderlands is based on Gearbox Software’s role-playing shooter, which was released in 2009. The game, which is set on the planet of Pandora, a frontier-land abandoned by a mega-corporation, has spawned a sequel, a pre-sequel and several spinoffs, and has sold over 26 million copies worldwide.

Avi Arad and Ari Arad are producing the Borderlands movie, and while details are scarce the project is expected to be “an edgy R-rated take on the source material.”
