Last week it was announced that Robert Downey Jr. is set to reprise the role of Tony Stark for Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, which – along with Captain America: Civil War and the two-part Avengers: Infinity War – will take his MCU appearances up to ten.
Downey hasn’t headlined his own solo movie since 2013’s Iron Man 3, and while Marvel has resisted the temptation to add Iron Man 4 to its slate through Phase Three, the actor has revealed to ABC News that: “I feel like I could do one more.”
Assuming Marvel doesn’t add another film to Phase Three, which is highly unlikely given how packed it is already, then the earliest we could expect to see Iron Man 4 would be late 2019, when Phase Four is expected to get underway.
