Idris Elba has confirmed that he was at one point in talks to play the Marvel character Luke Cage, who has recently been announced as headlining one of four miniseries set to arrive on Netflix from 2015 before building to The Defenders.
In an interview with The Huffington Post, the Luther and Thor: The Dark World star revealed that, “There was talk about Luke Cage at one time – I thought Luke Cage was pretty interesting character. They were going to do it, but I don’t know what happened.” So, is he to play Cage in the Netflix series? Well there was no massive reveal there with a simple “that’s right yeah” when told that Marvel Studios is developing the miniseries.
There’s also been talk lately about Elba joining the cast of Jurassic World, and the actor went on to shrug off the speculation, stating that talk of him joining the Jurassic Park reboot “is just a rumour.”
