Drew Goddard to write Marvel’s Daredevil miniseries

November 12, 2013 by admin

Just last week Marvel Studios announced that it had sold five miniseries to Netflix, with Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones each receiving their own 13-episode series and building towards the small screen team-up The Defenders, and it seems that Marvel is wasting little time in securing talent for the ambitious project.

According to The Wrap regular Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams collaborator Drew Goddard is set to write the screenplay for the Man Without Fear’s TV series. Goddard’s previous writing credits include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Alias, Lost, Cloverfield and World War Z, while he also directed the Whedon-produced The Cabin in the Woods last year. At this point, it’s unclear whether Goddard will find himself behind the camera for any of the episodes, or if he’ll also act as a producer.

Goddard is a self-confessed Daredevil buff, having spoken about the character earlier this year: “You’re talking to a guy who had quotes from Daredevil painted on his wall while growing up. Even when I was 18, I still had the blood red door with the, ‘I have shown him that a man without hope is a man without fear.’ That was what I loved and so it’s the sort of thing that if we can find the right project, I would love to do it.”

Well, it seems he’s got his wish and hopefully this is a sign of things to come with regards to the level of talent involved with these Netflix series.
