Sigourney Weaver wants to make another Alien movie

June 3, 2014 by admin

While Ridley Scott is off focusing on the Prometheus part of the Alien universe, it seems Alien cornerstone Ripley herself Sigourney Weaver is keen on the idea of returning to the big screen to take on the Xenomorphs again.

Appearing at the Hero Complex Film Festival in Los Angeles over the weekend, Weaver talked about the franchise, stating that “there is more story to tell”. She continued, “I feel a longing from fans for the story to be finished. I could imagine a situation where we finish telling the story.”

Sigourney Weaver first appeared as Ripley in the 1979 science fiction classic Alien and went on to star in its sequels Aliens, Alien3 and the fourth instalment Alien: Resurrection in 1997. However, she was not in the spin-off movies Alien vs. Predator or AVP: Requiem. Aside from the Xenomorphs themselves, Weaver’s Ripley was one of the most compelling and interesting aspects of the franchise.

Alien: Resurrection saw a human-alien hybrid clone Ripley after she threw herself into molten lava at the end of Alien3. Should Weaver be a prophet and a new Alien movie be made, would the series continue on their adventures on Earth? Weaver isn’t sure, but she couldn’t imagine the Xenomorphs, “jumping out of haystacks [in a] French countryside”.

Would you like to see Sigourney Weaver reprise her role as Ripley for another round with Alien?
