Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg to reunite in Daddy’s Home

June 5, 2014 by Sam Thorne

Daddy’s Home was originally set to star Will Ferrell (Anchorman 2) and Vince Vaughn (The Internship), with Etan Cohen in the director’s chair. However, after some time in development, Deadline is reporting the film will now feature Mark Wahlberg (Pain & Gain) alongside Ferrell, a reunion from The Other Guys. The director(s) has also changed with Sean Anders and John Morris (writers of We’re The Millers) replacing Etan Cohen.

Cohen wrote the script for the film, with assistance from Adam McKay and Chris Henchy. The story depicts Ferrell as a radio exec who wants to be the best step-father to his wife’s two kids. His plan doesn’t go as smoothly as he hoped, Wahlberg appears as the biological, deadbeat dad of the children as parental war breaks out. It seems odd that Ferrell is playing the straight-laced wanna-be dad role, but Wahlberg as the asshole sounds like comic gold. This isn’t the only project riding on the duo of Sean Anders and John Morris, with Horrible Bosses 2 also set to hit this year, so it’s worth pondering whether the fairly inexperienced duo have the talent to succeed.
