Cailee Spaeny set for female lead in Pacific Rim 2

September 17, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Variety is reporting that actress and singer Cailee Spaeny (Counting to 1,000) has nabbed the female lead in Pacific Rim 2, joining a cast that includes John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad).

The follow-up to Guillermo del Toro’s sci-fi blockbuster is being directed by Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil). Plot details are being kept under wraps, but we do know that Boyega – who is also producing – is playing the son of Stacker Pentecost, played by Idris Elba in the original film.
