Tim Roth to play Sepp Blatter

October 25, 2013 by admin

In one of the more bizarre piece of casting news announced today, Reservoir Dogs and Broken star Tim Roth is to play the head of FIFA and the dark lord Sepp Blatter in a film to be released alongside the 2014 Brazil World Cup.

Seeing as it is to be released pretty much as an advert for the World Cup, it can be expected that none of the controversy that made – and still makes – Blatter’s leadership at FIFA so contentious. The Fifa president commented that “the casting was well done,”

The film is to be made by Leuviah Films, a production company with no previous credits, with Gerard Depardieu also set to play Jules Rimet, the third president of FIFA and namesake of the Jules Rimet Trophy.

For a film to be based on Blatter, FIFA shouldn’t be involved. Under the right director, the film – awkwardly titled F2014 – could possibly be an intriguing look into the world of FIFA, but what we will inevitably be given is a 90 minute advert on behalf of Blatter.
