Casting is underway on Walt Disney Pictures’ Magic Camp, with Variety reporting that Adam DeVine (Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates) and Jeffrey Tambor (Transparent) have joined the family comedy, which is being directed by Mean Girls helmer Mark Waters.
Magic Camp “follows DeVine’s character who is pulled out of retirement by his former mentor (Tambor) and returns as a counselor to the magic camp of his youth hoping to reignite his career. Instead, he finds inspiration in his ragtag bunk of rookie magicians.”
Steve Martin had previously been attached to portray the mentor character, and had written a previous draft of the script, which has since been reworked by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand.
