Paramount moving ahead with Bumblebee Transformers spinoff, screenwriter working on Harley Quinn / Birds of Prey movie

November 11, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Back in February Paramount Pictures set release dates for three Transformers movies following their much publicised “writers room” to establish a cinematic universe for the robots in disguise, one of which was a Bumblebee spinoff.

Well, it seems the studio is now ready to move ahead with the movie, with Deadline reporting that screenwriter Christina Hodson (Shut In) has turned in a script which Paramount is very high on, and the project will soon be going out to directors.

Up-and-coming screenwriter Hodson has several projects on the horizon, including the erotic thriller Unforgettable and sci-fi The Eden Project. She has also penned a reboot of The Fugitive for Warner Bros. and is reportedly writing a script for a DC movie. Deadline didn’t mention which movie it was, but The Wrap is reporting that it is the Harley Quinn / Birds of Prey project, which will see Margot Robbie reprising her role from Suicide Squad, as well as producing.

The Bumblebee movie is set for release on June 8th 2018. Before then, we have Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight on June 23rd 2017, followed by another as-yet-unrevealed movie on June 28th 2019.
