Chris Pratt and Michael Rooker talk Guardians of the Galaxy’s Rocket Raccoon

October 17, 2013 by admin

With filming complete on Marvel’s space epic Guardians of the Galaxy, we are finally getting our first drips of information about  Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon. Having been in London to film Parks and Recreation’s 100th episode, Chris Pratt has revealed some information on what exactly Rocket Raccoon will bring to the film…

“You think it’s a cartoon character, but it’s not, it’s a very real creature. Rocket Raccoon has been tortured his whole life and no one else likes him, so he’s lonely and he’s angry and it’s like, there are all these elements. You sort of forget about that, you wouldn’t think about, and hopefully will come to life. I think it will and that’s why they hired a really good actor to do the role. I could not be more excited that Bradley Cooper is voicing Rocket Raccoon, it’s a great character. It’s probably the best character in the movie, just because it’s not what you would expect,”

The Walking Dead star and all round bad-ass Michael Rooker has also revealed a few things about his character Yondu and his relationship with Rocket Raccoon: “Rocket and I don’t get along, he’s a bit abrupt and brash for my taste… The paparazzi have a bunch of photos of Yondu – I think Yondu was the first of the characters that got totally exposed – and you can see the character looks totally different from the comic…. the blue [paint] is simple, it’s beautiful. The colours that we use in Guardians are just exquisite. When everything is put together – when you have wardrobe on and the lighting’s going – man oh man it’s beautiful, it’s going to look fabulous.”

I couldn’t be more excited for Guardians of the Galaxy and with the endlessly entertaining Pratt in the lead role, and an extraordinary cast surrounding him, it’s sure to be the staple of the 2014 blockbuster season.

Guardians of the Galaxy will open on August 1st 2014, with James Gunn (Super) directing a cast that also includes Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora, Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook) as Rocket Raccoon, Dave Bautista (Riddick) as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel (Fast & Furious 6) as Groot, Benicio Del Toro (Sin City) as The Collector, Lee Pace (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) as Ronan the Accuser, Karen Gillan (Doctor Who) as Nebula, John C. Reilly (Step Brothers) as Rhomman Dey, and Glenn Close (Damages) as the leader of the Nova Corps.
