Well, it looks like the video game curse may have struck again, as 20th Century Fox’s Assassin’s Creed movie has failed to set the U.S. box office alight, pulling in just $10.6 million over the Friday to Sunday period.
Assassin’s Creed will settle for fourth place over the Christmas weekend behind Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Sing and Passengers, and has earned around $23 million in total since it opened on Wednesday.
Analysts are suggested that the movie will be frontloaded due to the “fanboy quoitient”, meaning it will have to perform very well in the international markets if the studio’s plans for a trilogy have any hopes of coming to fruition.

Assassin’s Creed is out now in the States and opens on January 1st in the UK. The film reunites Michael Fassbender with Macbeth director Justin Kurzel and co-star Marion Cotillard, while the cast also includes Michael K. Williams (Ghostbusters), Jeremy Irons (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Brendan Gleeson (Calvary) and Ariane Labed (The Lobster).
