Room star Jacob Tremblay joins Shane Black’s The Predator

January 25, 2017 by James Garcia

Shane Black’s reboot of The Predator has been gaining traction and adding a host of actors to its cast in the last few weeks, and just added someone a bit unexpected. According to THR, the newest person who will go up against the film’s eponymous alien hunter is none other than Room breakout star Jacob Tremblay.

The eleven-year old may not seem like the most obvious choice for a film like this, but some new character and story details suggest he’ll actually have a pretty big part to play. According to the new report, Tremblay will play the son of Boyd Holbrook’s main ex-marine protagonist. Holbrook’s character reportedly discovers the existence of “fierce aliens but that no one believes they exist.” Tremblay’s character is autistic and bullied in school, “but becomes a key player in the fight due to his preternatural ability to learn languages.”

Tremblay joins an already impressive cast that includes Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Thomas Jane (The Punisher), Sterling K. Brown (This is Us, The People v. O.J. Simpson), Keegan-Michael Key (Key & Peele) and Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse). Directed by Shane Black, the film goes into production next month and is currently set for a February 9, 2018 release.
