With the spectacular success of Deadpool and with R-rated Logan seemingly a hit in the making, speculation is rife as regards to casting details for the much anticipated Deadpool sequel.

Co-creator of Wade Wilson, Rob Liefeld, is making his desires known by advocating that Russell Crowe be the man to portray Cable when he makes his way to the big screen for the first time.

He even tweeted at the actor saying he should read for the role.

@russellcrowe you should read for #Cable in Deadpool and X-Force. Just sayin…

However, Crowe didn’t seem to take too lightly to the idea of having to audition for the part.

huge fan sir. Poorly worded. Apologies.

— robliefeld (@robertliefeld) February 24, 2017

After Liefeld apologised for the egregious offense, Crowe responded again, indicating his apparent interest in taking up the part and bringing Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds into the conversation, saying that Reynolds could find a way to get him involved.

forgive me sir. It's an absolutely irresistible notion. pic.twitter.com/Cw3Yq2grjX

So, be careful what you wish for… or rather who you tweet… It certainly seems like Crowe is at least interested, making this space certainly worth watching.

Do you think Russell Crowe would be a good fit for Cable? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
