Danny Rand won’t wear his costume in Marvel’s Iron Fist series

March 6, 2017 by Gary Collinson

If you were hoping to see Danny Rand donning his iconic costume in Marvel and Netflix’s upcoming Iron Fist TV series, then I’m afraid you’re going to be disappointed – at least in the short term.

“There was no good reason we could imagine to put Danny Rand in a costume,” showrunner Scott Buck tells SFX Magazine. “Because Danny Rand is still discovering who he is as a hero and where he is going to be, so he’s not yet ready to put on a mask or a costume.”

However, as with Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock, who only donned his classic Daredevil costume in the season one finale, we may see Danny adopting a disguise at some point in the character’s future, with Buck continuing:

“At the same time he is someone who is rather well known as a billionaire, so he can’t necessarily go out in public and do the things he does without being recognised. It does become an issue for the character.”

Are you disappointed that we won’t be seeing Iron Fist in the green and yellow? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

Fifteen years after being presumed dead in a plane crash, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist.

Marvel’s Iron Fist hits Netflix on March 17th and sees Finn Jones (Game of Thrones) leading the cast as Danny Rand alongside Jessica Henwick (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Colleen Wing, David Wenham (The Lord of the Rings) as Harold Meachum, Jessica Stroup (90210) as Joy Meachum, Tom Pelphrey (Banshee) as Ward Meachum, Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) as Claire Temple, Carrie-Anne Moss (Jessica Jones) as Jeri Hogarth, Wai Ching Go (Daredevil) as Madame Gao and Lewis Tan (Mortal Kombat: Legacy) as Zhou Cheng.
