Nathan Fillion teases Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 deleted scene, Miley Cyrus confirmed for voice role

April 21, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Warning. Minor spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 follow…

Back in April of last year some set photos from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 arrived online showing movie posters from the ‘Simon Williams Film Festival’, which also revealed that Nathan Fillion is portraying the character of Simon Williams, better known to Marvel comic book fans as Wonder Man.

As we await the release of the film (which is out a week today here in the UK), Fillion has taken to Instagram to share in image from a deleted scene from the hotly-anticipated sequel…

SEE ALSO: Adam Warlock was originally in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, will likely appear in Vol. 3

UPDATE: As confirmed by director James Gunn, the image isn’t exactly from a deleted scene, but rather Fillion having some fun on set. That being said, it does sound like Fillion’s scene has been cut…

Meanwhile, Marvel’s Kevin Feige has also revealed that Miley Cyrus has a role in the film, lending her voice to Mainframe.

Fun fact from the @JamesGunn @Kevfeige interview happening now! @MileyCyrus is the voice of Mainframe. #GotGVol2Event #GotGVol2

In comic book continuity, Mainframe is an alternate version of The Vision, but it remains to be seen how the character will fit into the MCU canon.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled for release on April 28th 2017 in the UK and on May 5th in the States, with director James Gunn reuniting with returning cast members Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Glenn Close (Nova Prime), Sean Gunn (Kraglin) and Laura Haddock (Meredith Quill) alongside new additions Pom Klementieff (Oldboy) as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) as Ayesha, Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight) as Ego the Living Planet, Chris Sullivan (The Drop) as Taserface, Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy) as Tulik, Sylvester Stallone (Creed) as Stakar and Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville) in an as-yet-unrevealed role.
