Sony’s Animated Spider-Man movie release moved up, Liev Schreiber provides update

April 28, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Next year, Marvel’s Miles Morales will make his big screen debut, albeit in animated form, as he headlines Sony’s as-yet-untitled Spider-Man feature film, and it has announced that fans will be able to see the web-slinger in action a week earlier than planned, with the studio moving the release up from December 21st 2018 to December 14th.

The film will see Shameik Moore (Dope) lending his voice to Miles, while Liev Schreiber (Chuck) is set to portray the main villain, whose identity is being kept under wraps. Schreiber has been chatting to Collider about the film, and while he wasn’t giving anything away, he did provide a brief update on the project:

“We haven’t started at all. In fact, I don’t think I begin for another month or so. I think real hardcore Spidey fans will be able to follow this with great ease. It will feel very familiar, in a good way, in a kind of throwback way.”

Animated Spider-Man is being directed by Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey, with The LEGO Movie’s Phil Lord and Chris Miller writing the script.
