Black & White ‘Noir’ version of Logan confirmed, will get one-night only theatrical release

April 28, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Last month, Logan director James Mangold revealed that he was working on a black and white edition of Hugh Jackman’s X-Men swansong, a la the Black and Chrome version of Mad Max: Fury Road.

Well, it now looks like we have confirmation that this cut will be included on the home-entertainment release of the solo movie, with the listing on Google Play revealing that it will include both the theatrical and “noir” versions of the film. As yet, there’s no word when we can expect the Digital or Blu-ray release, but we should expect an announcement soon.

UPDATE: It seems that the black and white edition will also get a one-night only theatrical release on May 16th, with James Mangold posting the following to Twitter…

Suggestion. Hard core B&W loving LOGAN fans should not make any plans on the evening of May 16th.

— Mangold (@mang0ld) April 28, 2017

Logan was released at the start of March and has grossed $604.5 million to date, making it the third biggest earner of the X-Men franchise behind Deadpool ($783.1 million) and X-Men: Days of Future Past ($747.9 million).

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

Logan reunites Hugh Jackman with The Wolverine director James Mangold and also stars Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Dafne Keen, Eriq La Salle, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Elise Neal.
