Blake Lively to star in MMA drama Bruised

May 17, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Originally published May 17, 2017. Updated April 16, 2018.

Blake Lively has signed on to star as the lead in Bruised, an MMA drama from director Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook, My Sister’s Keeper).

Deadline reports that the film will see Lively as Jackie, “a single mother working two jobs and a disgraced MMA fighter who has been up against the ropes her entire life. When the authorities threaten to take her young son away from her, she must get back in the cage for one last chance to fight for redemption and give her son the life she always wanted.”

Production on Bruised is scheduled to get underway in September, with Cassavetes directing from a script by Michelle Rosenfarb (Sweet Surrender).
