Alex Garland has signed a TV deal with FX

July 18, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Alex Garland, director of the acclaimed Ex Machina, has signed an overall television deal with FX Productions.

Nominated for a Best Original Screenplay Oscar for Ex Machina back in 2016, Garland has added himself to the list of Hollywood’s most exciting writer/directors.

Ex Machina was a sci-fi drama, Garland’s directorial debut, about artificial intelligence, starring Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, and Alicia Vikander.

The production deal signed with FX will lead Garland to write, develop, and produce a number of television projects that are exclusive to FX Productions.

“Alex’s gifts as a writer have long been apparent, and he made a huge impression with his directorial debut Ex Machina,” said Eric Schrier, co-president of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions.

“We are thrilled that he is bringing his talents as a writer and director to television through FX Productions. We have enormous respect for his uncompromising creative vision and we look forward to supporting his original and bold ideas.”

This is an exciting move for fans of Garland, and it should be very interesting to see just what he comes up with for the small screen.

Garland’s next project is still bound for cinemas, an action adventure movie called Annihilation about a biologist who signs up for a secret expedition. Annihilation will premiere in 2018.
