Trailer for The Wicker Man: The Final Cut, plus Robin Hardy announces plans to complete his trilogy

September 1, 2013 by admin

To mark its 40th anniversary, the British horror classic The Wicker Man is set to return to cinemas this Autumn with the release of a newly-remastered and previously thought lost ‘Final Cut’, which restores the film to its original 102-minute run time, and U.K. distributor StudioCanal has released a brand new trailer, which you can check out below…

Directed by Robin Hardy, The Wicker Man stars Edward Woodward as a policeman who is sent to the remote island Summerisle to search for a missing girl, only to discover a secret society devoted to the worship of pagan gods. Joining Woodward in the cast are Diane Cilento, Ingrid Pitt, Britt Ekland and British horror icon Christopher Lee.

Meanwhile, Hardy has been speaking about completing his Wicker Man story with a third and final chapter (if you’re not aware, Hardy directed a follow-up, The Wicker Tree, in 2011) entitled Wrath of the Gods: “I am just at the opening stages of financing it (Wrath Of The Gods) and hope to make it next year. The first two films are all (about) offers to the Gods. The third film is about the Gods. I use the vehicle of the final act of Götterdämmerung (the last of Wagner’s Ring cycle).”

The Wicker Man: The Final Cut is released in the UK on September 27th.
