It is predicted to easily retain its title as king of the US box office this coming weekend.
The Stephen King adaptation blew cinemas apart during its opening weekend on its way to a massive $123 million. It has continued to perform impressively in its domestic market since, earning $8.8 million on Monday and $11.4 million on Tuesday for a present total of $143.6 million.
Even if It drops steeply by 60 percent this coming weekend, that will still see the horror flick bring in around $50 million, which would be more than enough to fight off its competition.
Two new releases will be vying for their share of the market this weekend, action thriller American Assassin and Jennifer Lawrence’s horror title mother!.
It should have little trouble defeating either of these movies.
The question at this point is just how high It will climb up this year’s biggest earners list. It should be comfortably inside the top 10 by Sunday and past $200 million.

It sees Andy Muschietti directing Bill Skarsgard (Hemlock Grove) as Pennywise alongside Jaeden Lieberher (St. Vincent), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Jack Dylan Grazer (Tales of Halloween), Wyatt Oleff (Guardians of the Galaxy), Chosen Jacobs (Cops and Robbers), Jeremy Ray Taylor (Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip), Owen Teague (Bloodline), Sophia Lillis (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and Nicholas Hamilton (Captain Fantastic).
