Steve Pink to adapt Hunter S. Thompson’s The Curse of Lono

Deadline is reporting that Steve Pink (Hot Tub Time Machine, About Last Night) has signed on to direct an adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson’s book The Curse of Lono.

Published in 1983, The Curse of Lono follows the exploits of Thompson and illustrator Ralph Steadman as they are sent to cover the marathon in Waikiki and end up on a drug-fueled journey to the sacred City of Refuge.

The script for The Curse of Lono has been penned by JD Rosen, who is also producing the movie with Stephen Nemeth of Rhino Films. Production is slated to get underway in 2018.
