The Punisher showrunner on possible season 2 villains

November 26, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Although we’re yet to hear any word on a possible second season for Netflix’s latest Marvel series The Punisher, showrunner Steve Lightfoot has been chatting to The Hollywood Reporter about which villains he’d like to see Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle going up against in season two should the call come.

I haven’t even thought about season two … but one of the villains I love is Barracuda [from Garth Ennis’ Punisher MAX series]. I think he’s great fun. I also really like O’Brien [also introduced in Ennis’ Punisher MAX run]. I thought she was always really cool. Certainly those two jump out at me initially, but there are so many great characters there. It’s a very fun sandbox to play in.”

After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.

The Punisher features a cast that includes Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Ben Barnes (Billy Russo), Jason R Moore (Curtis Hoyle), Michael Nathanson (Sam Stein), Daniel Webber (Lewis Walcott), Amber Rose Revah (Dinah Madani), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Micro), Jaime Ray Newman (Sarah Lieberman), Paul Schulze (Bill Rawlins), Clancy Brown (Ray Shoonover), Geoffrey Cantor (Mitchell Ellison), C. Thomas Howell (Carson Wolf), Shohreh Aghdashloo (Farah Madani) and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (Marion James).
