Seth Rogen to play Walter Cronkite in Newsflash

December 14, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Seth Rogen has signed on to play legendary American newsman Walter Cronkite in Newsflash, the next project for director David Gordon Green (Stronger), which has been scripted by Ben Jacoby (The First Omen).

According to the site, the movie takes place on November 22nd, 1963, the day of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and revolves around CBS newsman Cronkite, his producer Don Hewitt, their boss Jim Aubrey, and Dan Rather, a young reporter who happened to be in Texas at the time of the assassination. The story will play out in real time as Cronkite and his team attempt to filter all the unverified information and swirling rumors and find the truth that was conveyed to American public on the fateful day.

Although Rogen and Green are the only names attached to the project at present, the report goes on to state that the filmmakers are looking at Mark Ruffalo for the role of Don Hewitt, as well as Bryan Cranston for Jim Aubrey.
