Movement on Bond 25 could be coming soon as Variety reports MGM and EON are avidly searching for a director in the next instalment of the spy-franchise. At the top of their list is Danny Boyle, director of such films as Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours and the Trainspotting films.
Though MGM has yet to make a formal offer to Boyle, he has been in contention to direct a Bond film for some years now, being eyed to helm Skyfall and Spectre before Sam Mendes took on the directing jobs for those films. Boyle has also expressed interest in the past of directing a Bond film, but he is currently attached to a project for Working Title, though Variety notes that since it has no cast yet it could always be pushed back to accommodate Bond 25.
MGM is apparently also interested in tapping Yann Demange (’71) to direct the film, but are making one last push to get a big name director attached to the latest 007 adventure.
Daniel Craig is officially returning to the role of James Bond 007 in what will be his final Bond film. Sam Mendes has ruled out returning for a third Bond film and one favourite among fans to direct Bond 25 is Christopher Nolan, though he recently said he has no interest in directing a Bond film at this time.
