Henry Cavill reportedly wants to extend his Superman contract with Warner and DC

February 25, 2018 by Gary Collinson

While the reception to Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League has been mixed, it’s fair to say that actor Henry Cavill has made the most of the material he’s been given with his role as Superman in the DC Extended Universe. And, if a report from Revenge of the Fans is to be believed, we could be seeing plenty more of Cavill’s Man of Steel over the next few years.

According to the site, both Warner Bros. and Cavill are keen to push ahead with the long-rumoured Man of Steel 2, but is “all a matter of contractual logistics.” Cavill apparently has one movie remaining on his original deal, which the studio would like to fill with a new solo film, whereas Cavill wants his reported – and yet-to-be-confirmed – Shazam! cameo to count as his final appearance before signing a new deal, beginning with the Man of Steel sequel.

Warner Bros.’ DC plans seem to be in a state of flux at present following the disappointing reception to Justice League, although rumours persist that Man of Steel 2 remains high on the list of priorities, with X-Men: First Class helmer Matthew Vaughn revealing late last year that he’s had talks with the studio about potentially directing the sequel.

Would you be happy to see Henry Cavill extending his contract as Superman? Let us know in the comments below…
