Fox’s X-Force movie will reportedly start shooting in October

February 25, 2018 by Gary Collinson

As we await news / confirmation on Disney’s planned acquisition of 21st Century Fox’s film and TV assets, it seems that Fox is looking to push through one more X-Men movie before the takeover is complete.

According to reports, the Drew Goddard-directed X-Force movie is being lined up to start production in October, once Goddard has finished work on his current project Bad Times at the El Royale.

Assuming this date is accurate, it would suggest that X-Force will likely release late in 2019, and could well be the last project we get from Fox’s X-Men franchise before the characters are rebooted into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (assuming that’s Disney and Marvel’s plan).

As yet, we know nothing about Goddard’s plans for X-Force, aside from the fact that Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Josh Brolin (Cable) will appear. Presumably we can add Zazie Beetz (Domino) to that list, while the Deadpool 2 trailer also hinted at the team, with Terry Crews, Bill Skarsgard and Lewis Tan rumoured to be portraying George Washington ‘G.W.’ Bridge, Zeitgeist and Shatterstar respectively.

Before we get to X-Force, Fox has Deadpool 2 opening in May, followed by X-Men: Dark Phoenix in November and X-Men: The New Mutants in February 2019.

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Deadpool 2 sees David Leitch (John Wick) directing a cast that includes returning stars Ryan Reynolds (Wade Wilson), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), T.J. Miller (Weasel), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al) and Karan Soni (Dopinder) alongside new additions Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) as Domino, Josh Brolin (Avengers: Infinity War) as Cable, Jack Kesy (The Strain) as the film’s villain, and Shioli Kutsuna (The Outsider), Eddie Marsan (Atomic Blonde), Julian Dennison (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) and Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) in as-yet-unrevealed roles. It is set for release on May 18th 2018.
